Oily Parish is a formally trained printmaker, who grew up in Kenya. Her natural surroundings as a child became her constant source of inspiration and the animals that she became acquainted with now take centre stage in her work.
Oily Parish
"I love the alchemy of the process of printmaking and the anticipation of the end result".
As a child growing up in Kenya, Oily Parish was surrounded by nature. This became her constant inspiration. All the mammals, birds and insects that she became acquainted with now take centre stage in her work. “Insects are so jewel like and they are always moving….but I suppose they do have lots of legs!”.
Having studied at Falmouth School of Art, Oily discovered the art of printmaking. She became fascinated with the traditional methods of printing: the techniques, the versatility of the medium, its unpredictable yet exciting qualities. “I love the alchemy of the process of printmaking and the anticipation of the end result”.
“I hope to continue to explore the natural world and printmaking”. Oily lives and works from her studio in South London.
